About Stanton

our story

Stanton Studios, expanded from well-known Stanton Glass Studio, was founded in 1979 by Bryant J. Stanton. The company began with workbench in a loft studio with a couple crates of glass and has grown into a nationally-recognized business with completed work in businesses and homes across Texas and the United States. In addition to Bryant, his four sons, and their team of craftsmen operate Stanton Studios just north of Waco, Texas.

The beginNings

Bryant got his start in stained glass in the late 1970s making suncatchers for a gift store in Waco, Texas. After a year, he decided to start his own business at the age of 21, and he named the company Stanton Glass Studio. The first shop opened in Downtown Waco as a craft shop that offered classes and sold small windows in the store. Bryant’s first commercial jobs came from making custom windows for two local resturants and restoring stained glass windows for a church that was damaged by a fire. Today, Stanton Studios and their team design and fabricate custom architectual art, as well as restore historic stained windows in and around Texas and the surrounding states.

History in glass

Stanton Studios has completed work in cathedrals and notable buildings across the state of Texas. The stained glass pieces in the famous, historic Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas were designed and fabricated in our studio. The chancel cross in Arborlawn United Methodist Church in Fort Worth, Texas is also a Stanton Studios creation. The three-story DNA sculpture at the McLennan Community College science building is a brainchild of Stanton Studios. See our Portfolio page for more examples of the works of art created by our studio.

The craftsmen in the glass studio are accomplished in a wide variety of stained glass skills, including traditional hand-painting, beveling, acid-etching, fusing, slumping, sand-carving, and gold-leafing. Each new product request is individually designed, drawn, and perfected by the artisans here in the studio. Stanton Studios also does historic stained glass restoration, conservation and repair.
